pecking soresThis is great for parrots too

This really works on my African Grey Parrot who is a feather picker. He seems more comfortable and doesn't pick and pluck. Love this product. Couldn't find it for a while and he was really picking and plucking.

bumblefoot treatment Magic On Bumbles

As others have noted, this stuff is Magic on Bumbles. One of our Turkeys had a chronic problem with bumbles her whole life (5 years). 9 months ago we stopped treating and wrapping her feet because her toes started to swell when wrapped (possibly a circulation problem). We were thinking we might have to put her down. Using this stuff for a week cleared them up (she had three on each foot!) and she stopped being ginger on her feet. Most were completely gone after two weeks. The two worst few are still healing but we anticipate them clearing up completely too. Additionally, we started using it on a couple other hens who also have bumbles and although results have not been as dramatic, they have been entirely satisfactory.

bumble footWorks for Bumblefoot!!!

Our turkey had really serious bumblefoot and we started having to wrap her foot up with this medicine to get rid of it. It started getting better and better, and now this BANIXX spray (with no wrapping) prevents recurrence. We are so very grateful to the manufacturer!!!!!!

    feather pecking in chickens

Pecking sores (also known as Feather pecking) and are the result of a behavioral problem that occurs most frequently amongst domestic hens raised for egg production. Feather pecking occurs when one bird repeatedly pecks at the feathers of another. The levels of severity are recognized as gentle or severe. Gentle feather pecking is considered to be a normal investigatory behavior where the feathers of the recipient are hardly disturbed. However, in severe feather pecking, the feathers of the recipient are grasped, pulled at and removed. This is painful for the receiving bird and can lead to trauma of the skin or bleeding, which in turn may lead to cannibalism and even death.

Making matters worse, birds are even attracted to the victim's red, injured skin that is now apparent from the trauma.  Subsequently, the pecking behavior escalates into chick warfare!. Banixx for CHIXX, while not being a behavioral solution, will, upon application (as a poultry injury treatment), turn a red, inflamed area into a pink (non-inviting area) and accelerate tissue repair. Separation of birds is generally recommended until the injured chicken is healthy.  However, be advised, this behavior may continue when the bird is returned to the flock.

bumblefoot treatment in chickensBumble Foot is a term used to describe a chicken foot infection called plantar pododermatitis. It is characterized by swelling, sometimes redness and often, a distinguishing black or brown hard scab on the bottom of a chicken's foot. It occurs in a duck's foot too. Bumblefoot in chickens, or ducks,  if left untreated, can be fatal, as the infection can invade other tissues and eventually the bones of your bird. It occurs when bacteria, such as Staphylococcus invade and cause infection in the sole of a chicken's foot, creating a pus-filled abscess. The entry point for bacteria can be anything from a cut, scrape, injury or even simply a raw spot on the skin caused by wet, dirty bedding. Bumblefoot requires treatment. It cannot be ignored and will not go away on its own.

The most common behavioral symptoms of bumblefoot include limping and lameness. By the time a chicken is seen limping, the infection has most likely been festering for some time. Examination of the footpad may reveal redness, swelling and either a callous-like lesion, a lump between the toes or a black scab on the foot-pad.

How to treat Bumblefoot in Chickens or Ducks. Most Bumblefoot treatments involve the use of iodine that's not only very messy, but it burns. Banixx for CHIXX is a much easier, more effective, less messy way to approach this problem. Soaking the foot in Banixx may soften the hardened infection. Once the hardened scab has broken and the infection is draining, be sure to keep the foot sanitized and awash in Banixx. Do this until healing tissue is readily apparent.  Caution: Some surgical or veterinary intervention may be required to lance the area to get the infection to drain. Once the area is draining, applications of Banixx will kill the bacteria Staphylococcus.  Find Banixx near you or buy online.

Vent area infections. The vent is the small opening in a chicken’s butt that serves as both a reproductive opening and a feces discharge door. Both poop and eggs are ejected through this one small opening. A healthy vent will be pink and moist.  Sometimes a hard build-up of feces will be visible covering the vent. Your chick cannot poo and will die if not treated.  This will be relatively easy to identify visually and, moreover, it could be a life-threatening problem in a young chicken.  Your chick, in turn, will exhibit sluggishness and is in much discomfort and pain. Adult birds rarely succumb to this.

    chicken vent gleet infection

How to treat Chicken Vent Gleet

Vent gleet is a common chicken disease. Without a doubt, vent gleet needs immediate treatment. Simply put, it’s an inflammation of cloaca where the chicken defecates, mates and delivers EGGS! Luckily, for our readers, it’s mainly caused by a smelly fungus called Candida albicans and, Banixx for Chixx, is lethal against this fungus. When your chick has Vent Gleet what you will see is that feathers around the vent start to shred or get “stuck” to it. Besides this there may be some swelling and redness.   You may also observe a cream-colored discharge, a swollen abdomen and your chick may “off’ her egg laying.

Vent gleet will not go away on its own.  Begin immediately by spraying Banixx in the vent area or apply it with a large cotton ball. Isolate your chicken to prevent infecting the flock.  Chicken vent gleet problems, if caught early on can be resolved somewhat easily.  Banixx for Chixx spray is an ideal preparation to apply during your chicken’s vent recovery since it doesn’t sting or burn and has no foreign scent or color. Contact your veterinarian for a definite diagnosis.

If you’re are treating your Chicks or Chickens for something that we have described here, yet you are not seeing an improvement, please do not hesitate to contact your consulting Veterinarian.  Our descriptions are generally stated and are not meant to cover every backyard chicken healthy problem.  Our Banixx for Chixx product is a superior antimicrobial but some situations may require stronger measures, such as chicken antibiotics to combat the infection. Rest assured, Banixx, as a topical remedy, works hand-in-glove with any prescription for chickens that your Vet may write for your feathered friend.

fowl pox in chickensFowl Pox (FP) in chickens is a virus that also affects turkeys and other birds. Both the wet and dry forms of FP are spread via mosquito bites or by the scabs which drop off and remain infectious for months. While Pox is active, the flock will be vulnerable to secondary infections – both cutaneous (the skin) and systemic (their whole system). This is where Banixx for CHIXX plays a role in addressing the bacterial issues of a secondary skin infection.

Fowl pox may manifest as Scabs, Sores, bumps & lesions that are generally white or yellow.  These may be accompanied by may be accompanied by an overall listlessness, loss of appetite and/or lower egg production. Recommended treatment is generally a regular triple-antibiotic ointment around the corners of the eyes, mouth and the body. Add to this, apply topical doses of Banixx for CHIXX to provide an effective, potent anti-bacterial, anti-fungal spray that denies any bacterial growth on your chicken. Easy to administer, Banixx for CHIXX has no odor or sting and is not affected by temperature extremes, hot or cold.

    Customer Testimonial:
“I have a bunch of pet chickens. People do not realize that when you spend time with your chickens, they are really great fun, can learn and greet me cheerfully every am! One day, the whole flock attacked Susie; she was a mess. They had pecked her right down to the bone!! I grabbed my bottle of Banixx and sprayed her. I segregated her and kept treating her am and pm. She made a total, wonderful recovery and is now back with the flock! Thank you Banixx!.”Testimonial by Julie from Hawaii
"I really liked that this is anti-fungal as well as an antibiotic. I have treated 4 hens so far with positive results"Testimonial by Golden Mom
“This stuff works miracles. I have a pet chicken that was hurt by a dog. I put it in with my other chickens after it was injured. The next morning the other chickens had pecked her whole back down to the bone in an area the size of a saucer. She was almost dead. I immediately took her out, sprayed Banixx on her 3 to 4 times a day and within a couple of days it had a scab on it and then started to heal. This stuff kept her from getting infected too. Soon my hen was as good as new and all her feathers came back. She was a happy, healthy hen all because of Banixx. I think it saved her life and it healed her wound much quicker than expected.”Testimonial by Dianne
Banixx For Chixx is great for pet birds! My canary kept getting sore feet. I was told by a local store to try Banixx. It really works. I just clean the perches with it and my sweet canary stays healthy! Never has a problem with his feet.”Testimonial by RC from Kernersville
"Amazing product! When my chicken was attacked by a hawk everyone jumps to the vetericyn. However we had just stocked this in our pet store (Webers pet supermarket Herndon, VA) in the trial sized bottles and were getting good feedback from customers. I got through my little bottle pretty quick, so I ordered this one and sprayed the chickens' wounds 2-5 times per day. When my vet came back out only 4 days later to check on the stitching, even she was absolutely amazed how well she had healed! Seeing as her neck was completely torn open, you can barely even tell now! Obviously the stitches helped but I believe this product really helped in keeping everything clean and preventing infection. She is back out with the flock now and back to her happy self!"Five star review from Webers Pet Supermarket, Herndon, VA.
"Used this on my hen last night. She had pecking sores !! Worked great!!”Five star review from Derick Stephans; Amazon Customer.
"I breed ornamental chickens. Used to have dead chicks in the incubator trays due to bacterial infections picked up from the trays.. Now, i just spray the incubator trays with Banixx...NO more dead chicks"..!!”Testimonial from Jim of Lake Barrington Feed store in Illinois.
